Balanced Dungeons is going to EVA Play 2026!
Maybe you are asking yourself, “What is EVA Play?” EVA comes from “Exposición de Videojuegos de Argentina” (Argentinian Video Game Exhibition).
This post, once again, will talk a bit about my personal life. Again, hopefully, this small story is something that whoever reads this can relate to.
When I started with the idea of working in games, I found out that EVA was being held in Buenos Aires, the capital of my country and 700 kilometers away from my city. This was in 2014? 2013?
I don’t even remember now…and yes, a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. I remember I purchased a bus ticket and just traveled to see what all that was about.
While I was watching other people’s games and the conferences at the event, I said, “Somewhere, somehow, in the future, I will get one of my games here.” I was just starting my journey learning Unity and wasn’t working professionally in gaming, but I was young and thought that if I could work in traditional software, this couldn’t be much different.
A few years later, when my first daughter was born (2016), I went to EVA for the third time, and I still had that dream or idea… So I started working on my personal projects with the hope that one of them would become a hit.
Life is always unexpected, and that was the last time I travelled to EVA. In the meantime, several personal projects were cancelled and thrown away into the trash.
I learned a lot during that time, especially about scoping my projects and ideas, but, as I mentioned before in this series, also about my personal expectations and the realistic amount of time I actually had available after work and taking care of my two kids.
Now, almost 10 years later, I’m going to EVA once again… and this time, it’s to finally show something I have worked on.
Balanced Dungeons is going to have its own spot there, and it will be another great adventure and another place to learn.
This has been a long journey, and only I know about the effort and frustration of all these years of starting projects and cancelling them for different reasons.
As I said before, this is not “my dream project,” and it still has a lot of things to improve, but it is one that I will always remember because, finally, at last, it’s one that I’m going to show at an exhibition.
To finish this post, I just want to say: never stop trying at whatever you pursue. Because, in the end, fortune favours the brave.
